Q: Do I have to pay to participate?
A: 2007 Contest is free for everyone. If you join during 2007
and submit a house for this year's contest or you contribute in another way such as a staff judge your membership remains free for as long as you keep it.
2008 and next memberships might carry a subscription fee for submissions.

Q: Who can be a staff judge?
A: Anyone can apply for a staff judge position. All applications
will be considered and a decision will be made based on personal qualifications.
Note: At this time staff judges work ad honor em.

Q: What is the difference between staff judge and public voter?
A: All visitors that wish to vote are welcomed to do so.
Each voter is given the opportunity to vote once for every house.
Staff judges vote only on the 10 Top houses for each region.

Q: Why I cannot vote now?
A: The vote button is enabled within the dates the contest
is active. Although submission closes on February 23rd the button will be activated on December 10th if there are
enough submission already.
It is advised to submit images early because public voting will close on March 2.

Q: Do I have to be a member to vote?
A: We require all voters to have a basic membership. Basic
membership enables the member to vote only. Basic membership is free. By having a membership we can store locally
your navigation preferences and voting status. In this way also we make sure unique votes are collected.

Q: When is the winner announced?
Public voting ends on March 2. Winners will be announced on the 10 day of march. This date may be extended if a decision is not reached on time.

Q: What are the specifications for the uploads?
A: Image size in kilobytes must not be larger than 250.
Image size in pixels must not be larger than 500 x 300 and the resolution can be between 72 and 96 pixels. Image
format must be JPG.

Q: I keep receiving errors when uploading my images. What can I do?
A: You can upload your images using a custom made software
we created to overcome this problem. The software is for windows computers and it will successfully accomplish
the task. You can download and use it free of charge. Download mchup-setup.exe or mchupx-setup.exe
We have two versions of the uploader. mchup.exe is smaller and
faster to download. It will work in most windows computers right out of the box. If it doesn't for you is because
your computer may require some additional windows libraries. mchupX.exe is a larger file and comes with all the
required libraries.
If you got the uploader from a software repository make sure
it is the latest version. Latest version is 1.0

Q: Why there is a no vote option on the voting screen?
When you vote on a house the score is added and then averaged. If for any reason you do not want to vote on a house just click on the no vote option and the current score of that house will remain.

Q: How can I show my house to friends and family?
You can email them a link with this format:
http://www.myXmasHouse.com/view.cgi?house=username,number
Replace username with your own username and number with the house number you want them to see. For example:
http://www.myXmasHouse.com/view.cgi?house=Tom22,1
You can also tell your contact what is your username and the house number you want to show. That information is enough to retrieve the image at the search page. Just need to enter in the box "username semicolon and the house number" and hit return or press the Retrieve button.

Q: Can I upload a picture of the interior of my house?
Yes absolutely. You can use the extra slots to upload images of the interiors of your house decorated for christmas.
Although the original idea for the contest was to display houses exteriors we might also consider to start a contest for the interiors if there are enough submissions.
